Statue-gate, Day 3

Hi everyone! I've had a great past 24 hours. First, a fun meeting with the Young Professionals of Augusta last night where I met some really cool young professionals (what else would one expect to find at a YPA meeting) and then this morning did Helen Blocker-Adams' South Augusta Business Association monthly meeting where I met even more great folks. Good times indeed.

Well, my investigation into this "Georgia Golf Hall of Fame Wants to Take Our Statues" deal entered day 3 today. I've got to return some calls to the state attorney general's office, the governor's office, and some local decision makers and then I'll report back to you, mostly likely tomorrow on the show.

Hope you got to hear my interview today with Tom Grant, former editor of the Metro Spirit. It's an interview I had been very much looking forward to and it didn't disappoint. From discussing Richmond County Schools and how to bring Augustans back to the CSRA after college to improving local television news and his involvement in introducing kids to journalism, Tom was a treat (yes, a treat!) to talk to on the show. He's so great that there's an entire website (and movement) dedicated to keeping him in Augusta. You can check that out here.

I also hope everyone got to hear about the great work being done at the Augusta Training Shop. I remember dropping by there a few months ago to learn more about their Derby Day festivities and was amazed at all the goodness going on in that place. If you've got any furniture that needs to be refinished, any metal that needs to be polished, or just want to have a down-right heartwarming experience, drop by the Augusta Training Shop on the 1700 block of Walton Way or check them out here. Big thanks to Ashley Osborne for coming out to the studio to fill us in on the Augusta Training Shop's Benefit Yard Sale taking place August 28 and 29!

Tomorrow on the show, I'll be talking to Janie Peel of Prime Commercial Properties, will give you the latest on the attempt by a state agency to steal our golf statues, and - get this - will fight a multiple time championship kickboxer live on the air! Well, either that or I'm going to be accessing my "health care" at the emergency room. Tune in at 1230am or www.newstalk1230.com at noon. See y'all then!
