Your Local Election Headquarters!

Hi folks!  What a great way to kick off the local election season!  Today we had Matt Aiken, candidate for the District 1 County Commission seat, on the show today.  As this was just a brief, 30 minute introduction of Matt, we'll certainly be inviting him back for a long stint on the show.  Tomorrow, we'll have another District 1 candidate, Butch Palmer, on the show!

Big thanks to DeMarc Campbell for coming on the show today to talk about Augusta Pride.  While it was just a radio interview discussing the treatment of homosexuals in the CSRA, I really feel the interview was a big step forward for Augusta.  As I mentioned to DeMarc, except for some Iron Age beliefs from some Iron Age book, there's really no reason that gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered people shouldn't be treated just like everyone else.  Hopefully, my crazy belief in the equality of all people will take further root in the CSRA.

My neck and back would like to thank Lydia Giusto of Evoke.  Lydia is a practitioner of structural integration and an all-around cool person.  Whether it's making vegetarian smoothies or roller skating in Sacred Heart, Lydia's got some cool things going on.  If you'd like to schedule an appointment with her for some bodywork, shoot her an e-mail at LydiaGiusto@hotmail.com or call her at (706) 627-7979.

Tomorrow on the show I'll be chatting with Butch Palmer, candidate for District 1 Commission seat, scurry off to the 2pm Commission meeting, then return at 4pm for an in-studio with the best darn secularist humanist in all of Columbia County Schools, Greenbrier Senior, Hilary Matfess!

Thor No Longer Protecting Germany . . .

Hi everyone!  What a great experiment on the show yesterday.  It was my first "extended version" of my typically one hour "Politically Homeless Report."  From chatting about Columbia County's new catchphrase to Aiken's Redneck Olympics, it was some serious "info-tainment" (to steal a term from an old Simpsons episode).

As you know, in addition to trying to get the 6 bronze golf statutes displayed in Augusta, I'm trying to find an apostrophre for this sign on Wrightsboro Road:

I wonder what the over/under is for the number of days it take to hear back from Parks and Recreation regarding my request for an apostrophe . . .

Today I'm off to Paddlefest '09, Discover Downtown Augusta, and then Extreme Fight Night at the Bell.  As part of my "duties" as a fake journalist covering the MMA event, I went to the weigh-ins at Hooters on Washington Road last night.  It was tough, but here are some photos from the weigh-ins:

And a big thanks to my guests, Karen Gordon of Garden City Jazz and Joel Cruz of Jazz Collective.  Those were some cool skat katz in the studio and I'm looking forward to be-boppin with them this Sunday night at 8pm at RiverWarlk for the last installment of the season of Candlelight Jazz.  It'll be groovy, man.

Next week on the show, tons of local news as I interview two of the local candidates for the District 1 Commission seat, the guy behind Thursday's Stop Obama Care Rally, members of the Augusta Sirens roller derby team, the guy behind the fund raising for the Kroc Center, and Columbia County's favorite secular humanist.  All that and tons more on the Golf Hall of Fame statues and apostrophe-gate on The Anthony Esposito Show.

Sweet, Sweet Revenge

Hi everyone!  Downtown Augusta Week on The Anthony Esposito Show rolls on.  In studio we had Jonathan Pike and Kathy Turner to talk about Immaculate Conception Academy's big move to Telfair St. from Laney-Walker Blvd.  You can read all about the big move in the Augusta Chronicle here and all about the school here.  Even more importantly, I enjoyed seeking my revenge on-air for the spanking that Immaculate Concpetions's middle school boys basketball team delivered to my Westminster team some 20 years ago!  While I only tied Principal Pike 0 to 0 in our basketball shooting contest, that tie was much better than the blowouts we used to suffer back at the hands of I.C. back in the late 80s and early 90s.

And a big thanks to one of my most popular guests, Roy Davenport of Artistic Perceptions on Broad St.  Roy is also known as the husband of the great oil painter Wanta Davenport, the artist who painted the portrait of Mayor Deke Copenhaver that hangs in his office.  Equally amazing was my on-air discovery that Roy and Wanta got engaged just 5 days after meeting each other and were married after only 4 weeks of dating.  53 years later, here they still are.  In the words of Roy, "It's not going to last."  ;->

Before the show I dropped by the opening ceremony for the expanded Highland Avenue Water Treatment Plant right by my house.  What I thought would be three people and the mayor just standing around, turned out to be a 200 person gala.  Some of the pictures from that event are here:

On Friday's show, Discover Downtown Augusta draws to a close with appearances from the Executive Director of the Augusta Museum of History and members of Garden City Jazz.  Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city . . . Downtown!

"I - 37, Looking for I - 37"

Hi folks! Hope you enjoyed the show today, I had a lot of fun in the studio making it.  So much is going on in the CSRA that's the first hour just isn't enough time to talk about it all.  From the battle over the $1.5 million in bronze statues hiding away on the Georgia Golf Hall of fame grounds and the latest candidates for Augusta-Richmond County Commission to this Saturday's Discover Downtown event and next Thursday's Stop Obama Health Care rally . . . so much great stuff and so little time.

I hope you heard my interview with Kate Lee of Oasis Garden.  What an awesome place.  Don't forget to stop by this Saturday to pick up your free sapling (with the purchase of a Discover Downtown Augusta Passport, of course).  Be sure to ask Kate about her bee keeping and how to make a beard out of bees.  Hint: It involves the queen.  ;->

Also on the show, a cool conversation with Chris Allewelt, owner of New Moon Cafe.  While I, of course, enjoyed hearing about the coffees and mega muffins, my favorite part was learning that Chris used to call bingo.  And man, was she ever good at it.  My attempt to upstage her "O - 34" with my "B - 8" was futile.

Tomorrow on the show, we'll deconstruct some more health care myths, I'll share my experiences from a local candidate's rally, an update on the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame statues mess, in studio interviews with Roy Davenport of Artistic Expressions and Jonathan Pike of Immaculate Conception School, and whatever else in the world I want to talk about . . . hey, it's my show!  ;->  See y'all tomorrow at Noon on 1230am or www.newsradio1230.com.

The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Strikes Again

Hi folks!  A little blown transformer (no, not Bumble Bee) resulted in the power going out for 30 minutes on the show today.  I'm pretty sure that was the Glenn Beck people just screwing with me.  I've got no evidence, but like Glenn himself, "My gut's just telling me it's true."  ;->

Thanks to Art Gomez of Casa Blanca Cafe for hanging out with me during the power outage and sticking around long enough to share the greatness of Casa Blanca Cafe with everyone.  If you haven't been, it's so freakin' cool!  There's an outside patio (often featuring some great live music), a great high-ceiling-ed inside (it's in the old White's Building, so what do you expect?), and then a super cozy upstairs, aka, the mezzanine.  They've got a  coupon in the Discover Downtown Passport, so be sure to check them out this Saturday . . .  you won't be disappointed!

Also, we had in studio Andrea Lombardo of Du Jour Fine Foods.  Whether you're looking for some specialty ingredients for cooking or just want a great sandwich for lunch, Du Jour is your place.  They're allegedly having a sandwich eating contest where the winner gets the sandwich named after them!  I so hope we're doing remote broadcasts by then because I'm so there!

Tomorrow on the show I'll be covering some more health care debate myths, talk more about the Richmond County District 1 Commission race, talk more Georgia Golf Hall of Fame, and reveal some disturbing data from Richmond County schools.  Oh, and I'll be chatting with the owners of New Moon Cafe and Oasis Garden as Downtown Augusta Week marches on on The Anthony Esposito Show!

USA #1 . . . err . . . #37?

That's right listeners, regardless of how you feel about the heath care debate, the folks who tell you "the United States has the best health care system in the world" are, how say I say it, not being very honest to you. The most recent study by the World Health Organization (WHO . . . I just told you!) ranks the United States #37 regarding the world's health systems. That's right, behind Canada (America's hat!), all those "socialized medicine countries" of Western Europe (heck, France was #1!), and just ahead of Slovenia and Brunei (take your time, I'll wait why you pull out an atlas). Wonder if these passionate patriots that put politics and "rallies" ahead of research and analysis would be shocked to find out where not that great in education either. Hmmm . . . .

As The Anthony Esposito Show is your "Local Election Headquarters" for the upcoming Augusta-Richmond County Commission elections, you first need to know who your elected representative is. To do that you just need to click here and go to "maps". While the maps seem to be absent of most every street name, you should be able to figure out which two of the 10 commissioners represent your district and superdistrict. Half of those guys and girls are up for re-election in the fall, so find out who represents you, do your research, and then be an informed voter. As Tip O'Neil famously said, "All politics is local."

Downtown Augusta Week started in earnest today on the show. Our first guest, Lara Plocha is one of the members of the Downtown Augusta Alliance (aka, d(a)squared) that has put together this Saturday's Discover Downtown event. For just $5, you get a passport filled with 43 coupons to be used that day. We're talking free stuff galore. I'll certainly be there trying to bring home as much swag as I can!

Lara also co-owns Blue Magnolia (where it's usual to find the unusual!) with her husband Matt, and also produces the monthly downtown "newszine" Verge with him also. As Lara will freely admit, the July issue, particularly page 11, was by far their most popular issue. Totally check it out here.

And a big "second time on the show" shout-out to Tonya Bonitatibus, the new RiverKeeper of the Savannah RiverKeeper. This Saturday they're putting on the annual Paddlefest, where you can race your canoe or kayak or make your own boat! If you're a spectator just enjoying the food and festivities, your best seats are at the old Boathouse at the end of East Boundary on the Savannah River. To learn more about Paddlefest, go here. If you'd like to see the Olin Chemical editorial that Tonya so eloquently critiqued, you can read that for yourself here.

Tomorrow on the show, Downtown Augusta Week on The Anthony Esposito Show continues with visits from Art Gomez of Casa Blanca Cafe and Andrea Lombardo of Du Jour Fine Foods! Oh, and more free Discover Downtown passports will be given away, so tune in and win! Later . . .

The Barry White Show?

Hi Nation (little tip of the hat to my inspiration for the show, Mr. Stephen Colbert), I'm still a bit hoarse even three days after my late night at Sky City. Hope y'all could hear me during the first hour as I was teetering on some sort of laryngitis. I'm currently engaged in a regimen of Earl Gray hot tea with honey and lemon. Hope it works!

I forgot to post on the previous blog post the contact information for the upcoming Stop Obama Care rally at the RiverWalk Ampitheatre. There website is SOCRally.com and the event is schedule for Thursday, September 3, from 5pm to 9pm. They don't say it, but I'd bring my "god and my guns" just to make sure. I'm actually going to ask them if I can speak as a measured and informed opinion. I mean, if they feel that this meeting is supposed to be like a town hall, then I think measured dissent (or just some moderation) would be welcome. We shall see . . .

Had a great time with my guests on Friday. First we had Sherry Barnes, Chairman of the Richmond County Republican Committee. Always good to have a fellow attorney in the studio as we are truly the salt of the earth. ;-> If you'd like to know more about the Richmond County Republican Party, just go to their website here.

And since it was Friday on The Anthony Esposito Show, that mean we had another great local musician in the studio. This week I was honored to chat with John Kolbeck, former guitarist for People Who Must. John currently works in several local bands doing cover and original work. If you'd like to download some of his solo creations, go to www.digistation.com. If you'd like to take guitar lessons or book him for events (including weddings!!!), just shoot him an e-mail at JohnKolbeck@comcast.net.

Next week on The Anthony Esposito Show, it's Downtown Augusta Week!! Every guest will be from downtown and we'll be promoting two great downtown events all week - Paddlefest '09 and the Discover Downtown event. Tune in to learn more about the most progressive area of the CSRA!

Oh, and about that police officer that got fired for photographing a waitress holding his gun while she sat on his patrol car . . . here it is. Enjoy!

Post-Fight Interview

Wow! What a day on the show. For some reason, I don't remember the middle section of it. It's like 20 minutes of the show was erased from my memory. All I do remember is that championship kickboxer Mark Greubel didn't bring his title belt for fear of losing it. After that statement, everything is pretty much blank. Huh?

If you want to see the "Kudzu Jesus," well, here it is:

Well, I pretty much think that ends the old "Does God exit?" debate.

Big thanks for Janie Peel for coming on the show today. Whether it's making pimento cheese, running The Roundtable, or collecting "real" outhouses, Janie does it all. If you're interested in commercial property (or her selection of comfort foods from her new venture, Lady Bug Love), check out Prime Commercial Properties here.

And if you're looking for a break from your regular work out, check out my guests Mark Greubel and Chris Elms in person at Greubel's MMA. To check out some mixed martial arts live in Augusta featuring some Greubel's MMA students, visit ExtremeFightNight.tv.

Tomorrow on the show we'll have Sherry Barnes, the Chairman of the Richmond County Republican Committee and then we'll sign off for the week with former People Who Must guitarist John Kolbeck. If you haven't heard one of my weekly Friday at 2 interviews with local musicians, this Friday's show would be a great place to start. See y'all then!

Statue-gate, Day 3

Hi everyone! I've had a great past 24 hours. First, a fun meeting with the Young Professionals of Augusta last night where I met some really cool young professionals (what else would one expect to find at a YPA meeting) and then this morning did Helen Blocker-Adams' South Augusta Business Association monthly meeting where I met even more great folks. Good times indeed.

Well, my investigation into this "Georgia Golf Hall of Fame Wants to Take Our Statues" deal entered day 3 today. I've got to return some calls to the state attorney general's office, the governor's office, and some local decision makers and then I'll report back to you, mostly likely tomorrow on the show.

Hope you got to hear my interview today with Tom Grant, former editor of the Metro Spirit. It's an interview I had been very much looking forward to and it didn't disappoint. From discussing Richmond County Schools and how to bring Augustans back to the CSRA after college to improving local television news and his involvement in introducing kids to journalism, Tom was a treat (yes, a treat!) to talk to on the show. He's so great that there's an entire website (and movement) dedicated to keeping him in Augusta. You can check that out here.

I also hope everyone got to hear about the great work being done at the Augusta Training Shop. I remember dropping by there a few months ago to learn more about their Derby Day festivities and was amazed at all the goodness going on in that place. If you've got any furniture that needs to be refinished, any metal that needs to be polished, or just want to have a down-right heartwarming experience, drop by the Augusta Training Shop on the 1700 block of Walton Way or check them out here. Big thanks to Ashley Osborne for coming out to the studio to fill us in on the Augusta Training Shop's Benefit Yard Sale taking place August 28 and 29!

Tomorrow on the show, I'll be talking to Janie Peel of Prime Commercial Properties, will give you the latest on the attempt by a state agency to steal our golf statues, and - get this - will fight a multiple time championship kickboxer live on the air! Well, either that or I'm going to be accessing my "health care" at the emergency room. Tune in at 1230am or www.newstalk1230.com at noon. See y'all then!

Hey People - Don't Take Your Assult Weapon to See the President!

Another great day of local and national news on The Anthony Esposito Show. I'm still plugging away on the crazy golf statues situation (and need you to do the same!), but take a look at this! This guy brought an assault weapon to an Obama town hall! And it was legal!!

A great stigma-reducing thanks to Shannon Nix, counselor at Augusta State University for joining me on the show today. Not only did we learn about what services Shannon offers to students, staff, and faculty, but I also got an impromptu salsa lesson with (fake) in-studio salsa band! By the way, I found out that I'm really, really good! To learn more about Augusta State University's Counseling Center, click here.

And a big learning lesson for me about reforming wayward youth via Full Circle Refuge Ministries's director, Devon Harris. You can learn more about what his volunteer group does and find out how you can help here.

Tomorrow on the show, we've got the former editor of The Metro Spirit, Tom Grant and the Director of the Augusta Training Shop, Ashley Osborne!

Call To Action: Save Our Statues

Hi listeners! Wow, was I fired up today for the my "Politically Homeless Hour" from Noon to 1pm on The Anthony Esposito Show. The wonderful folks at the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame that brought you the $18 million boondoggle on Reynolds Street, a.k.a. the former Augusta Golf and Gardens, now want to take over a million dollars of our statues with them as they leave. Read all about it here.

Now, here's where we can make a real difference. The two groups that will decide what happens with the $1 million plus of bronze golf statues are the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame and the Georgia State Golf Association. Just like with the health care debate, your voice can make a difference in what happens with this hotly political situation. To make your voice heard and show that you care about the CSRA, write the

Chairman of the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame, Bryan Persons at P.O. Box 4468 Macon, GA 31208.

Also, you need to contact the

Georgia State Golf Association and let them know how you feel by calling them at (770) 995-4272, e-mailing them at info@gsga.org, or writing them at 121 Village Parkway, Building 3 Marietta, GA 30067.

If we don't all take the time and effort to stand up for Augusta, then you can say bye-bye to six of these guys:

Also, a big First Amendment thanks to Johnnie Poole for coming on the show and talking extensively about his atheism and former counter-intuitive status as a real-life "atheist in a foxhole" when he was a U.S. Marine in Vietnam.

Tomorrow on the show, we'll have in-studio Augusta State University Counselor, Shannon Nix and the head of Full Circle Refuge, Reverend Devon Harris. Tune in for all this and more on the Golf and Gardens craziness!

Boy Bites Principal . . . Tetanus Shot to Follow

Hi everyone. Today concluded another great week on The Anthony Esposito Show. I got a lot of fun feedback on the "Boy Bites Principal" story, so here's the link to the story so you can check it out yourself: Screven County High School Student Bites Principal.

And for those of you who want a first hand look at Senator Al Franken's uncanny ability to perfectly free hand draw the contiguous 48 states, well, here's the (quite frankly, pretty amazing) footage: Al Franken Draws the United States of America.

Big thanks to Janette Schultz, the pretty darn humorous organizer and founder of the Columbia County Moms Meetup Group. If you'd like to learn more about the great activities they have for moms and their kids from throughout the CSRA, go to their meetup site and sign up here.

In my humble attempt to introduce more Augustans to the awesome, burgeoning local music scene, I had Joe Stevenson, founder of break-out band People Who Must on the show. We got to hear three amazing unreleased songs from Joe and his band. To learn more about what this local music legend is up to, visit his facebook group here.

Next week on The Anthony Esposito Show: Tom Grant, former editor of The Metro Spirit, Mark Greubal of Greubal's Mixed Martial Arts, and Sherry Barnes, Chairman of the Richmond County Republican Committee. Should be tons of fun!

Thursday, August 13, 2009

So which party has a stranglehold on truth?

Uh, how about neither? During my hour 1 "Politically Homeless Report" I explained more about the health care debate than you could learn in 1,000 hours of town hall meetings. If you want to know where I'm getting my intel, check it out here at the - gasp! - New York Times.

I had a lot of fun chatting my apparent equal in shooting hoops, Tony Malone of the CSRA Augusta BlackPages. If you want to learn where you can pick up the new edition of The CSRA Augusta BlackPages, just visit augustablackpages.net or to advertise in next year's edition (which will most definitely feature me and NewsRadio 1230 WNRR), e-mail Tony at tony@blackpagesusa.com.

And, what might be a first in talk radio history in Augusta, I had a "real, live" pagan on the air! Yep, Elle Shepherd was in the studio talking about what paganism is an is not. If you want to find out how to meetup with other pagans in the CSRA, check out Elle's Celtic Crossings Pagan Meetup Group here.

Tomorrow on The Anthony Esposito Show we'll have more on what's what on the heath care debate, Janette Schultz of the Columbia County Moms Meetup Group, and Mr. People Who Must Himself, Joe Stevenson. Oh, and our final pair of tix to A Day By The River will be given away. Good times!

A Democrat on Talk Radio in Augusta?

Hey listeners! Today was my favorite day so far with all the great in-studio convos and and local and national news commentary!

If you want to learn more about how to get involved in yoga or just getting your body moving, check out Kimberly Beroset of Everybody is a Dancer. You can learn more about her company and her two meetup groups at www.everybodyisadancer.com, http://www.meetup.com/All-Things-Yoga-In-The-CSRA-and-Augusta, http://www.meetup.com/CSRA-Expressive-Dance-Mindful-Movement-Group.

If you want to keep abreast of the Obama Administration and the ongoing healthcare debate through Democratic eyes, check out Lowell Greenbaum's website at www.richmondcountydemocrats.com.

See y'all tomorrow to talk about the CSRA Augusta BlackPages, a real life pagan, and we'll sort fact from fiction regarding the leading healthcare plans.

I'm just about Town Halled out . . .

Hey listeners! I'm about town halled out, but I did want to show you some pictures and video from last night's Rep. Paul Broun Town Hall meeting in Evans.

Here's a 360 of the meeting room filled with bluehairs:

And here's the welcome message Rep. Paul Broun delivered to the packed house:

And some photos from the event:

Thanks to my Democratic friend, Jamie Introcaso, for joining me at last night's town hall meeting and for sharing his thoughts on the Republican dominated town hall meeting in Evans!

Also, I'm so glad that I got to speak with Kenny Adams, founder of Augusta's Choice. Check out his awesome web-based business that lets you rate and review 1,000s of local businesses at AugustasChoice.com. Kenny and his wife also own a second business, Evince Unlimted at EvinceUnlimited.com.

Tomorrow on the show, we'll have Kimberly Beroset, a local yoga instructor, and Lloyd Greenbaum, head of the Richmond County Democratic Party. See you then!

Protest Day on The Anthony Esposito Show

Hey there listeners, I hope you enjoyed "protest day" on The Anthony Esposito Show. From the protests in Harrisburg to the confrontations at town hall meetings, there's a hint of ye olde revolution in the air.

Here's the video from a town hall meeting in Philadelphia (you can almost feel the brotherly love):

And here's even more craziness from Tampa:

If you'd like to help Lloyd Newsome out by getting Congress to pass the FairTax, check out fairtax.org and gafairtax.org. I for one would like to see him be able to do some fishing in his free time.

If you're curious about the books on atheism that were pointed out by our second guest, Johnnie Poole, the titles are "The Demon-Haunted World" by Carl Sagan, "The End of Faith" by Sam Harris, and "Letter to a Christian Nation" by Sam Harris. I've read the second and third books and they are indeed excellent if you want to really question conventional wisdom. "Letter to a Christian Nation" is only about 100 pages and is a great intro into why more and more folks are questioning the religious establishment.

Tomorrow on the show, it's wall to wall town hall. My Democrat friend and I went to the Rep. Paul Brown town hall in Evans and we'll going to tell all from our first hand report. I'll also have Kenny Adams of AugustasChoice.com in the studio to talk about that great, new online rating service. See y'all tomorrow!

Yes, Yes, It's the Statue of a Naked Angelina Jolie

They say it's a monument to breastfeeding and midwifing, but they had me at "naked."

Believe it not, we did have other news on the show . . .

An Augustan is trying to make kindness contagious and you can learn all about her at: giveit4ward.weebly.com

I had a ton of fun with Stuart Rayburn in the studio. If you'd like to learn more about the free cleaning they do for cancer patients, take a look at www.cleaningforareason.org. To learn about Stuart's other 3 and a half businesses, take a look at www.summervillemaids.com, www.billboardguru.com, and valueboards.com.

Also in the studio on Friday was Miss Riverblast 2009, Jessica Baumgardner. And the bigger news is that I was finally victorious in one of my in-studio guest challenges by nailing a 6 foot putt in one shot. Nonetheless, Jessica exacted her revenge by dressing better than me as can clearly be seen in this photo:

That's it from here folks! On Monday, we'll have a fan of the Fair Tax and then a former military man that rides a Segway. Oh, he also happens to be an unapologetic atheist! Lots of irreverent fun to be had on Monday's The Anthony Esposito Show . . . now streaming at newsradio1230.com

Then, at 2pm, we'll have a special interview with Miss Riverblast 2009 Jessica Baumgardner. She claims to be quite the golfer, so we're going to have a little in-studio putting contest for super high stakes!

Tune in at 1230am or newsradio1230.com at Noon to hear it all on The Anthony Esposito Show!

Breaking News: I have a car!

Hi everyone. As reported at the top of my show, I now have a car! Woo-hoo. News you won't get anywhere for sure.

Thanks to Kevin Steele of National Hills Baptist Church for coming on the show and sharing his globe trotting stories as well as engaging me in Guitarmageddon on the air. Man, that pastor can really grind his axe! If you would learn more about autism, especially signs to look for in your own child, check out www.autismspeaks.org for more info.

If you're looking to volunteer in the CSRA, then you need to look no further than Volunteer Augusta at www.volunteeraugusta.com or just go to facebook.com and search for "Volunteer Augusta." Those sites were created by today's 2pm guest, Angela Hillesland.

And last, and certainly not least, the picture for the Snuggie for Dogs ad campaign that I mentioned on my show:

And, as a bonus, here's the commercial itself:

Wow! Just wow!

Listen in tomorrow as we talk to a representative from the CSRA Vegetarians and a representative from the Libertarian Party of the CSRA - only The Anthony Esposito Show on NewsRadio 1230 WNRR!

From Bands to Beauty Pageants . . .

Hi everyone! Today's show had a little bit for everyone.

If you're one of these black helicopter birthers, then you were dismayed to see this evidence: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

Take a look at this:

Yep, the prez was most definitely Born in the USA. Now can we get on to substantive issues?

In the studio, we had the futuristic local band, My Instant Lunch. They have a myspace site at www.myspace.com/myinstantlunch and will be playing on Friday, 14 - FOR FREE - at The Playground downtown. Want some of their music as fast as you can cook a cup of ramens? How about faster? Go to the iTunes store and buy their latest EP, "Tales of Woah," now!

We also had the newly crowned Miss Teen United State 2009, Courtney Turner, on the show. She's using the platform her crown has given her to make Americans more aware of the issue of international human trafficking. Once she gets her website for her newly formed H.O.P.E. (Helping Open People's Eyes) group up, we'll post it here on my blog.

Tomorrow on the show, the founder of Volunteer Augusta, Angela Hillesland, and the world traveling, guitar-playing pastor of National Hills Baptist, Kevin Steele. I don't know if Kevin knows it or not but Wednesday is guitarmageddon (thanks Steven Colbert!) and we're going to battle axes, LIVE on the show! Tune in tomorrow at noon until 3pm!

Grant My Wish. . . Keep Tom Grant in Augusta!

Hi there listeners! Today was one of my favorite days so far on The Anthony Esposito Show. Great guests all around.

If you'd like to join Tricia Hughes' effort to keep Tom Grant, former editor of the Metro Spirit, in Augusta, check out her website at www.WeLikeTom.com. Grant their wish (and my wish too after today's interview with Tricia) to keep Tom Grant in Augusta!

Also, if you'd like to know more about one of Tricia's other causes, visit the Downtown Augusta Alliance, aka d(a) squared, at www.dasquared.com and "(Re-)Discover Downtown!"

If you'd like to help out with funding for the new main Augusta-Richmond County Library (opening summer of 2010) and maybe even get a part of the new library dedicated to you, visit www.checkitoutaugusta.com. To learn more about all of the East Central Georgia Regional Libraries and what events they are hosting, visit www. ecgrl.org. And, finally, to learn more about Director Gary Swint's tracking of wolves and analysis of their poop . . . well, you're going to have to talk to Gary about that!

The links to the Palin farewell speech low-lights and William Shatner's spoken word poetry parody of it is available below under the Wednesday, July 29 blog entry.

Tomorrow on the show, I debunk the birther's conspiracy theories regarding Barak Obama's birth certificate, chat with the local band My Instant Lunch, and then conduct the interview that Leno and Letterman couldn't get - a one on one interview with Miss Teen United States 2009, Courtney Turner of North Augusta!

Catch it all tomorrow starting at Noon on NewsRadio 1230 WNRR.

It's Harrisburg Day on The Anthony Esposito Show!

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed Harrisburg (the Augusta neighborhood, not the capital of Pennsylvania) Day on The Anthony Esposito Show yesterday.

If you want to learn more about the Young Professionals of Augusta's efforts to get that part of town ready for the upcoming Kroc Center, check out their website at www.ypaugusta.com. If you'd like Sean to find you a job via Spherian Stafing go here: www.spherion.com. And, most importantly, if you'd like to Sean to put together some entertainment for you or your company (I hear he has an "in" with Peter Frampton) go to www.forthefansentertainment.com.

To learn more about Butch Palmer's Harrisburg activist group called HONGKONG, check out their website at www.hongkongaugustaga.org.

To see the police car footage of the 7 year old Utah boy that "borrowed" his dad's car to avoid going to church (totally understandable if you ask me) and his eventual capture by the cops, take a look at this video:

See you Monday on The Anthony Esposito Show from Noon to 3pm on NewsRadio 1230 WNRR where we try to find former Metro Spirit Editor, Tom Grant a job in the CSRA!
