The Long Local Nightmare of "Apostrophe-gate" is Over!!!

"Mission Accomplished" everyone! (And it's not premature!)

Here's the Newman Tennis Center sign as it stood (in all its grammatically incorrect glory) for 23 years:

And here it stands (in its wonderfully apostrophe-filled glory) after putting in a call to the Augusta-Richmond County Parks and Recreation Department:

To say this make me happy would be a vast understatement!  Viva la grammar!! We did it!

Oh, and here's my sign for tonight:

I'm ready for the rally . . . are you?

In studio today, we had the wildest, wooliest hour yet on The Anthony Esposito Show.  I was joined by three supa intimidating members of the Soul City Sirens women's roller derby team.   I discussed the finer points of roller derby rules with Judge Packer, talked my possibility of going out with Martha Skewer, and got utterly confused by Haute Mess.  You can see these (fine?) folks on this Sunday night at 6pm at Red Wing Roller Rink for a big bout against the Sintral Florida Derby Demons!  (And also on their soon to be award winning blog at www.myspace.com/augustarollerderby.)  I'll be there doing some colo(u)r commentary and then off to the after-party at Allie Katz on Walton Way Extension.  See y'all there!

And to close out the show, three members of the Augusta Striders, Scott McWhorter, Tony Klinger, and Brian Killips.  They've got a big annual event coming up Saturday, September 26 called the Broad Street Ramble.  If you're looking to try out those new running shoes, that event might just be up your alley.

Tomorrow on the show, we'll have a Libertarian Party candidate for governor, an Augusta State Professor that recently traveled to Cuba, and a local musical guest by the name of John Kreuger.  Not a bad way to start your weekend . . .
